The wheel travels inside the link after #, which is never sent to our server.

Put names in the main list. Leave the second list empty to make pairs, or fill it to match the two lists.

    Three ways to match

    • Pairs from one list: leave the second list empty. Everyone gets a partner; with an odd number, the last pair becomes a group of three.
    • Two lists: put people in the main list and tasks, topics or gifts in the second. Each person gets a different item.
    • Gift draw: tick “Nobody draws their own name”. Everyone gives a present to someone else, and nobody gets themselves.

A gift draw where nobody gets themselves

The matcher shuffles the list and keeps reshuffling until nobody is matched with their own name. That way every valid draw has the same chance; there is no pattern such as “everyone gives to the next person”. Copy the result and send each person only their own line.

    Uses

Study partners and reading buddies, office gift exchanges, first-round match-ups for a tournament, splitting chores between flatmates, and handing out presentation topics.

    Questions

How do I randomly pair names?

Put the names in the main list, leave the second list empty and press Match.

Can I make sure nobody gets their own name?

Yes. Tick “Nobody draws their own name” before pressing Match.

Can I match people to tasks?

Yes. Put the tasks in the second list. Each person gets a different task; if there are fewer tasks than people, the last people get none.

    Is the matching random?

Yes. Both lists are shuffled with a cryptographic random generator.
